Hadn't Found You
05:32
|
|||
I know what would have happened if I hadn't been mine
Seven days a week of whiskey beer and wine
I would've spent all my money in any back street bar
And whatever state I'd've been in, I would still have used my car
I'd be drinking in the morning just to ease my shaking hand
And drinking in the evening 'till I could no longer stand
Should I go home yet? No pour me another
I should get myself together and still I wouldn't bother
Chorus
I would drive out in the evening, got no plans where I should go
Any sign of life and I wouldn't want to know
Just sit there in the corner, sit there on my own
Different bar every time, move onto another town
Used to hate the daytime, just can't stand the night
Keep away from everybody and avoid the city lights
Got my money in one pocket, my cigarettes in the other
Used to have myself a little pied, should get myself another
Chorus
I know what would have happened if I hadn't been mine
Seven days a week of whiskey beer and wine
I would've spent all my money in any back street bar
And whatever state I'd've been in, I would still have used my car
Used to hate the daytime, just can't stand the night
Keep away from everybody and avoid the city lights
Got my money in one pocket, my cigarettes in the other
Used to have myself a little pied, should get myself another

Say What You Will
03:50
|
|||
Standing on the corner of some place I had never seen,
I stared into the distance and knew i'd never leave
When i looked into your face I saw the future there
So I surrendered heart and soul to you without a care
Say what you will,
you know it's strange what life can throw at you
Say what you want, you know it's odd the dice you roll,
Let 'em roll
I have to work real hard each day, to try to be a good man
You know there are times that I forget,
despite doing everything I can
I know my demons well and i know just how to summon them
I got a self destruct switch, got my finger on the button.
I remember a guy kicked his father to death for, no reason at all
Then he went back and ate his fries like it was, nothing at all
I was typing out the emergency call,
I guess I took me most of the night
I must have heard that man die a hundred times, before I got it right

When the Walls Come Down
06:08
|
|||
Jimmy sat across from me
Late one Saturday night
And said ‘I’m just thinking out loud man
If you had the chance would you see me right"
So I sat thinking for a while, and looked across at Jim
I said ‘James, i think it's academic, dude, see i can't bail you out tonight'
So when the walls come down - tell me, what you going to see
And when the walls come down - who you going to be
When the walls come down - what you going to do
When the walls come down - what are you going to lose
i got a massive hole in my head where my conscience used to be
And if I tried hard enough then maybe I could see
Someone else’s point of view if you think that it would help
But don’t ask me if I like it I’m already have trouble, living with myself
I was driving home in the middle of the night
And I’m sick and tired of people trying kill me sick
And tired of putting up a fight
So I put some Creedence on my stereo and lit a cigarette
Eased my foot off the gas
Watched the world go by and grab all they could get

I Hear The Rain
03:39
|
|||
I hear the rain
But the fires are still burning down in Knoxville
Perhaps I should explain
But then that would suggest I'd something to hide
And while i sit and watch it burn
I could threaten to return
As they find someone to blame
I watch the flames, and still hear the rain
Do you believe
If I swore to you that every word was true
Is it possible I could deceive
But then why would I want to lie to you
But the preacher has his faith
Despite all evidence to the contrary
I guess they'll find someone to blame
Watch the preacher burn, and I still hear the rain
I still hear the rain
And the fires are still burning down in Knoxville
Perhaps I should explain
But then why the hell would I want to lie to you
And while they're busy with the fire
I can wait another hour
As they find someone to blame
I watch the flames, and still hear the rain
But the preacher still believes
Despite the advice of all his thieves
I guess they'll find someone to blame
Watch the preacher burn, and I still hear the rain

Said & Done
05:13
|
|||
There’s a full moon a rising on the road through the night
& we’ve got to get our act straight if we’re gonna get it right
It’s time to get together turn our eyes toward the sun
When all is said and done, more is said than done
There's a freight train passes through here once a day, once a night
Taking Coal from Kentucky to the California lights
We could jump on it together
Take a trip toward the sun
When all is ........
So we’ll talk late into the night now, keep dreaming in the day
hoping we’ll get lucky, see some money come our way
I guess we’ll never go anywhere, but we’ll see when the morning comes
Drift into tomorrow, still more is said than done
There’s a Chevy in my driveway, goes well but it’s kinda old
I was going to buy me a Firebird, but I didn’t have that kind of dough
We could drive out of here together, drive toward the sun
When all.......
So we’ll talk late into the night now, keep dreaming in the day
hoping we’ll get lucky, see some money come our way
I guess we’ll never go anywhere, but we’ll see when the morning comes
Drift into tomorrow, still more is said than done
There’s a Greyhound once a week now
Used to come around twice a day
But then they shut down the Steel Mill
And all my neighbours moved away
I guess we’ll stay here together, turn our backs toward the sun
When all…

The Call
04:00
|
|||
Did you call my name, when you lit the flame
That started it all
And did curse the night, and did you try to fight
The call, at all?
Never mind that i've been searching for you
Never mind what i've been through
And did they trace your calls, put ears inside your walls
And did they read your rights
And did you shut you mouth, even when they let you out
To disappear into the night
Never mind that i've been searching for you
Never mind what i've been through
Never mind that i've been lying for you
Never mind what we've been through
Did you curse my name, when you lit the flame
That started it all
And did they read you your rights, and did you try to fight at all
Never mind that i've been searching for you
Never mind what i've been through
Never mind that i've been lying for you
Never mind what we've been through
Never mind that i've been searching for you
Never mind what i've been through
Never mind that i've been lying for you
Never mind what we've been through

Reckless
08:05
|
|||
You know I found myself on Trouble
Somewhere East of God knows where
A million miles an hour babe try to act like i don’t care,
But things come up behind you
When you’ve gone as far as you can
But there’s no way to settle down now, can’t go back where i be-gan
You know that no one knows you
So be sure where you belong
But you’ll be wrong
Well my daddy called me reckless
I guess he knew a thing or two
By the time I realised I owed money to god knows who
He couldn’t bail me out no more, and i’ll accept that that was true
Yeh, my daddy called me reckless, said I’d have to learn to loose
Did you recognise me, did you understand my song?
Were you looking for an answer, do you know that you were wrong?
Always run and always hide and never settle down
Wind up at the Station, try to leave to all behind,
Live your life in a bottle, that’s the news I had in mind
Never lost a friend even when they found i’d lied
